What we offer at 25, St. Mary's Road

 

Accommodation

The St Mary’s Road Hostel is a Foyer it comprises of 146 single rooms. Most have shared facilities but a few rooms have en suite toilets and showers and are especially adapted for disabled residents. The rooms are well appointed and equipped.

There are also 22 bedsits which are self catering and are reserved for residents who are working and ready for more independent living.

St. Mary’s Road Hostel is here to meet the short-term housing needs of residents.

Our Foyer aims to provide:

  • accessible accommodation
  • training
  • personal development
  • job searching facilities
  • and other essential services, together with community involvement and resettlement opportunities to our supported residents.

Who the Service is for:

  • Single homeless men and women aged 18-35
  • Those capable of basic personal care
  • Those with low-medium support needs to include:-

    • A learning difficulty
    • Mental health problems. (low risk)
    • Physical disabilities which do not preclude access to the facilities
    • A history of non-violent drug or alcohol abuse
    • Criminal records and be on probation
    • HIV/epilepsy or other physical illness
    • Refugees
    • Pregnant. (up to 36 weeks gestation)
    • Homeless
    • Those looking for a short stay in one of our unsupported rooms

The service is open to people of all faiths and those of none and regardless of their sexuality, race, creed or culture.

The service cannot accommodate people who:-

  • Have a physical or learning difficulty, which renders them unable to use the accommodation without assistance.
  • Are identified by a referring agency or the assessing officer as having a significant and/or recent history of violence or abusive behaviour, arson or sexual offences.
  • Need assistance with bathing or other significant assistance with personal care.
  • Need staff involvement in the administration of medication.

Accessing the Service

Supported Accommodation
Referrals are accepted from the London Borough of Ealing’s Single Homeless Persons’ Unit, The Contact Assessment Team and Social Services. Referrals can be made between 9am and 4pm Monday to Friday.

Student and Short Stay Accommodation
The hostel has a number of rooms for people wishing to visit London for a night, a week or need a place to stay during their studies. The accommodation is very affordable and includes a full English breakfast and evening meal.

Staffing
The building is staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days per year.

Services Provided
We support residents during their time of immediate need, and enable them to develop their personal and social skills sufficient for them to live independently from the YMCA in a sustainable way. Our Foyer ensures we are able to meet these objectives.

West London YMCA Foyer

  • The main focus of West London YMCA Foyer is on helping disadvantaged young people aged 18-35 (up to 40 for Caret referrals and from 16 for social service referrals), who are homeless or in housing need, achieve the transition from dependence to independence.
  • The West London YMCA Foyer offers, as part of an integrated programme, accessible accommodation, training, personal development, job searching facilities and other essential services, together with community involvement and resettlement opportunities.
  • The West London YMCA Foyer requires a commitment from young people to engage in the services on offer as a condition for continued residence.
  • The West London YMCA Foyer offers holistic support and learning plans which are regularly reviewed with young people and are based on an ongoing assessment of individual needs.
  • The West London YMCA Foyer is support ed by a secure management partnership with stakeholder involvement from the wider community.
  • The West London YMCA Foyer provides a stable service with opportunities for growth and innovation.
  • The West London YMCA Foyer continually monitors and reviews its performance, and involves staff and young people in this process.
  • The West London YMCA Foyer supports and develops its staff team to provide a quality service.
  • The West London YMCA Foyer supports the empowerment and participation of young people and facilitates their involvement in the management of services.
  • The West London YMCA Foyer promotes and protects the rights and responsibilities of young people and staff.
  • The West London YMCA Foyer promotes and protects the security, health and safety of young people and staff.
  • The Foyer provides a comfortable living and working environment which promotes and protects inclusion and equal opportunities.

Facilities Provided

Residents have a games room and garden with a children’s play area. A restaurant provides a full English breakfast and three course evening meal for residents. It is open to non-residents as a fully licensed restaurant at lunchtime.

Residents are also able to benefit from a well equipped training room which has:

  • 11 computers
  • basic skills tuition
  • POA sessions
  • employment skills including interview techniques
  • CV building and job search
  • CLAIT, ESOL
  • practical living sessions
  • IT courses.
